The Cabinet of Ministers in Sri Lanka has approved the issuance of permits for importing different rice varieties, including Ponni Samba. This decision aims to help address the shortage of Samba and Keeri Samba rice in the country. Each importer will be allowed to import a maximum of 1,040 metric tons of rice, according to Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.
