Iran and US expressed confidence in Pakistan talks
Pakistan's foreign minister announced that both Iran and the US have shown trust in Pakistan to help arrange talks. He stated that Pakistan would be proud to host and support meaningful discussions between the two nations in the near future. However, there was no confirmation from either Iran or the US about their participation in the peace talks. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar shared these remarks after the first day of meetings in Islamabad with foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt. Dar noted that the group talked about potential ways to achieve a quick and lasting end to the conflict in the region. He expressed deep thanks to all three countries for their backing of Pakistan's peace efforts. Additionally, Dar mentioned that he had conversations with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the Secretary General of the United Nations, both of whom showed support for the peace initiative. Following a meeting earlier in the day between Pakistan’s prime minister and Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, Pakistan issued a separate statement affirming that it would always stand in solidarity with Saudi Arabia and appreciated the "remarkable restraint" shown by the nation.
