Sri Lanka s inflation decreases to 1.6% in February 2026
In February 2026, Sri Lanka's overall inflation rate, measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), dropped to 1.6%, down from 2.4% in January 2026. This information comes from the latest report by the Department of Census and Statistics. Food inflation also saw a decline, falling to 1.1% in February from 3.4% in January. However, the Year-on-Year inflation rate for non-food items rose to 1.9% in February, up from 1.6% in January. Looking at Year-on-Year data, the share of food items in inflation was 0.50% in February 2026 compared to February 2025. The NCPI for all items in February 2026 stands at 209.4, reflecting a decrease of 2.0 index points from January, as noted by the Department of Census and Statistics.
