More than 400,000 QR codes issued under national fuel pass system- CPC
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has reported that most technical and registration issues with the fuel QR code system have been resolved. Mayura Neththikumarage, the Managing Director of CPC, stated that nearly all eligible users have received their QR codes, with only about 10,000 individuals left to complete the registration. So far, over 400,000 QR codes have been issued, showing good progress in the system's rollout. Neththikumarage noted that a few users faced challenges during registration, but most system errors have now been fixed. He encouraged those who had issues to try registering again, as the process has become easier. The system is currently handling a large number of users, processing around 30,000 new registrations every hour. Although some users might temporarily face errors due to high traffic, the system is fully operational and continues to accept new users. He also mentioned that steps have been taken to improve system accuracy, including removing nearly two million incorrect or duplicate entries. As a result, only a small number of accounts remain inactive. Highlighting the importance of registration, he pointed out that the current QR code allocation cycle will end this week. He urged anyone who has not registered to do so quickly to ensure they receive their fuel quota without any interruptions. Additionally, the CPC has identified another problem affecting the system: vehicles that have changed ownership without proper legal documentation. This has caused inconsistencies, as these vehicles do not show up correctly in official records. To address this issue, a new support system will be launched. Authorities will provide nine dedicated contact numbers, one for each province, allowing affected individuals to submit their information and confirm their identity. Once verified, the necessary steps will be taken to issue QR codes. Users will be able to send their information through WhatsApp, and officials will assist in resolving any registration problems. Neththikumarage emphasized that these initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to improve the QR-based fuel distribution system and ensure that the public has fair, efficient, and continuous access to fuel in Sri Lanka.
