Sri Lankan Ambassador urges vigilance for nationals in Northern Israel
The Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, has emphasized the importance of safety for Sri Lankans in northern Israel due to the ongoing conflict. He reported that airstrikes by the Israel Defense Forces have increased in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah has stepped up missile attacks on northern Israel. As a result, Sri Lankans living in areas such as Haifa, Nahariya, Akko, Galilee, Afula, Mount Carmel, Nazareth, and Tiberias are urged to stay alert for possible attacks from Lebanon and any provocative actions by certain groups near the borders. The Ambassador also mentioned that Israeli security forces have prohibited large gatherings and advised Sri Lankans to avoid participating in such events until the security situation gets better. Currently, over 9,000 Sri Lankans work in northern Israel and should follow the guidance from the Israel Defense Forces, government media, the Population, Immigration, and Border Authority (PIBA), and the Sri Lankan Embassy. In case of an attack, individuals can access free ambulance services by calling 101 and providing their location. For more assistance or information, the Embassy is available through WhatsApp at 00972-559305731, seven days a week.
