Three US fighter jets went down in Kuwait due to friendly fire incident- US Central Command
Three US fighter jets crashed in Kuwait due to what is being called a friendly fire incident, according to a statement from US Central Command. The Kuwaiti air defense system shot down the F-15E Strike Eagle jets late Monday evening Eastern Time. The announcement explained that the jets were involved in active combat, facing threats from Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones, when they were mistakenly hit by Kuwaiti forces. Fortunately, all six crew members ejected from the planes safely, were recovered, and are currently in stable condition. Kuwait has recognized this incident, and US officials expressed gratitude for the support of the Kuwaiti defense forces during this operation. CENTCOM stated that the cause of the crash is still being investigated. The fighter jets were part of Operation Epic Fury, a military mission targeting Iran. Kuwait’s Minister of Defense mentioned earlier on Monday that "several" US fighter jets had gone down.
