Heavy rainfall above 75 mm expected in parts of the island today
Heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is anticipated in several regions of Sri Lanka today. Showers are expected at times in the Northern, North-central, Central, Uva, Eastern, and Southern provinces. Some areas in the Eastern and Uva provinces, as well as in the districts of Polonnaruwa, Matale, and Nuwara-Eliya, may experience fairly heavy rainfalls. After 1:00 p.m., showers or thundershowers are likely to occur in various locations across the island. During the early morning hours, misty conditions may develop in certain areas of the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces, along with the districts of Galle and Matara. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of damage from temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
