Narcotics, firearm and forged number plates seized following interrogation of female suspect
Officers from the Mount Lavinia Police have discovered a stash of drugs, a firearm, and fake vehicle number plates after questioning a female suspect. The woman, who lives in Ratmalana, was arrested for having crystal methamphetamine, known as ‘Ice’. She was being interrogated under a detention order as part of a larger investigation. Based on information from her, police conducted a raid last evening at a house on Pirivena Road in Mount Lavinia. During the operation, they found 10 grams and 260 milligrams of ‘Ice’, Rs. 800,000 in cash, a firearm, a live round of ammunition, eight fake number plates for motorcycles, four fake number plates for three-wheelers, and eighteen fake number plates for cars. They also seized an electronic weighing scale, two gold chains, a gold bangle, and a gold ring. Initial investigations suggest that these items were given to the suspect by a member of a gang involved in drug trafficking. The Mount Lavinia Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
