Trump threatens tariffs on any nation supplying Cuba with oil
U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning on Thursday about potential new tariffs on nations that provide oil to Cuba, intensifying his efforts against the Communist-led country. This action comes from an executive order linked to a national emergency declaration, but it did not mention specific tariff rates or identify any countries that could be affected. Following the U.S. military's recent operation to capture ousted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Trump has frequently discussed taking action against Cuba and increasing pressure on its leaders. He stated this week that "Cuba will be failing pretty soon" and noted that Venezuela, which used to be Cuba’s main oil supplier, has not sent oil or money recently. Throughout his second term, Trump has often threatened tariffs as part of his foreign policy. In response, Cuba’s president remarked this month that Washington lacks the moral standing to impose a deal on Cuba after Trump suggested that the island should negotiate with the U.S.
