Anusha Palpita arrested by Bribery Commission
Anusha Palpita, the former Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and ex-Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), has been detained by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). He was arrested as part of an inquiry based on information received by the Commission regarding his failure to reveal the source of assets amounting to Rs. 46 million. The CIABOC reported that Anusha Palpita came to the Bribery Commission this morning (23) and was taken into custody after giving his initial statement. He faces charges for having acquired substantial assets and properties that exceed his reported income during a certain time period. His arrest follows an investigation into the assets he accumulated beyond his lawful earnings during that time. The former ministerial secretary is set to appear before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
