Government Radiologic Technologists to begin token strike at 8am
The Government Radiological Technologists’ Association is set to begin a 24-hour token strike at 8:00 a.m. at hospitals throughout Sri Lanka. Chanaka Dharmawickrama, the President of the Association, explained that this action is due to the Ministry of Health's failure to properly investigate the Deputy Director of the National Institute for Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation in Maligawatte. He mentioned that despite raising the issue multiple times with health officials, they have not received a satisfactory answer. As a result of the strike, all radiation services, including CT scans, MRI scans, angiograms, mammograms, and other radiation-related procedures will be halted for 24 hours. In addition, members of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) in the Eastern Province are continuing their strike against the Medical Superintendent of the Akkaraipattu Hospital. Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, the spokesperson for the GMOA, noted that this strike has now reached its fifth day.
