A technical officer from the Welisara sub-office of the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha has been taken into custody by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) for allegedly asking for a bribe of Rs. 50,000. The arrest follows a complaint from a person in Ragama, who reported that the officer demanded and accepted the bribe to approve a building plan, even though it had several issues. After receiving the complaint, investigators arrested the officer. The suspect is set to appear before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
