Fairly heavy rainfall above 50 mm likely in some areas tomorrow
Tomorrow, areas in the Northern, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as the Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, and Polonnaruwa districts in Sri Lanka, are expected to experience showers. The Department of Meteorology has warned that some places may see significant rainfall exceeding 50 mm. Additionally, Kandy and Anuradhapura districts will have several periods of rain. After 2:00 p.m., light rain or thunderstorms are likely in parts of the Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces, including the Kalutara district. Strong winds, reaching speeds of around 40 km/h, may occur at times in the eastern slopes of the central hills and the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, as well as in Hambantota, Monaragala, and Trincomalee districts. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of damage from localized strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
