A tragic road accident in Welipenna claimed the life of a three-year-old girl. The incident occurred near the 5th mile post on the Aluthgama–Matugama Road. The young girl was riding on a motorcycle with her parents when their vehicle collided with a cab coming from the opposite direction. After the crash, the child and her parents were taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, the girl died from her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. Her parents were also hurt in the accident and were later moved to Nagoda Teaching Hospital for more treatment. The police have arrested the cab driver in relation to the accident. The Welipenna Police are currently investigating the matter.
