LNP - Electricity tariffs will be increased in June: President

The electricity tariffs will be increased in the next tariff revision in June, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said. While participating in a television programme he said that however, the electricity tariffs after June will still be less than the tariffs during last December. He said the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will send its proposals by May 15 and the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) will decide on the tariffs within two weeks. He said the electricity tariffs were reduced by 20 to 30 percent in January and that the same amounts will not be increased in the June tariff revision.
