Compensation paymentsto voluntary retirees in power sector to begin soon
The Government plans to start compensation payments soon for electricity sector workers who chose voluntary retirement. This follows a key meeting on Monday (11) led by Minister of Power and Energy Anura Karunathilaka. The meeting, held at the Ministry, aimed to finalize the payment process and tackle various issues related to the compensation scheme. Minister Karunathilaka provided guidance and solutions to address unresolved concerns, ensuring that payments will be made promptly, according to sources from the Ministry. This voluntary retirement program is part of the Government’s larger effort to reform and restructure the electricity sector, which aims to enhance efficiency and streamline operations in important power institutions. The Deputy Minister, the Ministry Secretary, senior officials, and leaders from major electricity institutions were also present at the meeting. The Ministry stated that the compensation process is designed to assist employees who retired voluntarily under this initiative while helping to implement the sector reforms smoothly.
