Heavy rainfall above 100 mm expected in parts of the island
Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is anticipated in certain areas of Sri Lanka. The Department of Meteorology has reported that an atmospheric disturbance near the island will keep the rainy weather going for the next few days. Most regions will experience showers or thundershowers after 1:00 pm. The Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-Western provinces, along with Galle and Matara districts, are expected to see heavy rainfall. Additionally, morning showers may occur in the Eastern and Northern provinces. Early in the morning, misty conditions could also be present in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala district. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risks of damage from strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
