Ahmedabad to host IPL 2026 final on May 31
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro approved the new indictment, which was made public on Tuesday and replaces previous charges. Cole Tomas Allen, 31, appeared in court in Washington, D.C., last week and has not yet pleaded. Court documents released on Tuesday reveal that a grand jury has also charged Allen with attempting to assassinate the president and two firearms-related offenses. These include transporting a firearm and ammunition across state lines with the intent to commit a felony, and using, carrying, brandishing, and discharging a firearm during a crime. Allen was previously charged with these offenses last week through a criminal complaint. Prosecutors stated that Allen was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, a pump-action shotgun, and three knives when he allegedly rushed through a security checkpoint above the basement venue at the Washington Hilton hotel on April 25. Following the gunfire, Trump, Vice President JD Vance, cabinet members, and other officials were quickly evacuated from the ballroom while attendees took cover under tables. This event has led to a review of White House security procedures. The man from Torrance, California, attended the California Institute of Technology and was a member of the Pasadena United Reformed Church in the Los Angeles area. Federal campaign finance records indicate he donated $25 to a Democratic Party political action committee supporting Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign for 2024. Court records show he allegedly sent an email to his family shortly before the attack, stating, “Administration officials… are targets, prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest.”
