Today, on June 6, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunneththi, met with representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). They discussed how Sri Lanka’s industrial sector contributes to the economy and the wealth it creates, as stated by the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development. Minister Handunneththi shared information about the difficulties that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are facing and the government’s actions to help them. The IMF representatives recognized the significance of industrial growth in Sri Lanka’s current economic reform plans. The talks also covered ways to eliminate obstacles to building a production-based economy, improve export processes, and foster a welcoming atmosphere for foreign investment. In line with the IMF’s program, both parties looked into possible incentives and financial support for local industrialists, according to the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.
