Chandana Bandara, the Chairman of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB), has warned that Sri Lanka may face limited water supply due to ongoing dry and drought conditions. He mentioned that for the next two to three weeks, water delivery could be restricted for several hours each day. In a media briefing, Bandara clarified that while these water cuts have not started yet, current weather patterns could hinder the ability to provide a constant 24-hour water supply soon. He also pointed out that the water treatment plants, including the Ambatale Water Treatment Plant, are still functioning normally. However, water delivery to higher areas has been reduced to low pressure. Bandara advised the public to conserve current water reserves as rain is anticipated in the near future. He also announced that water bowsers are being sent to assist areas facing low water pressure.
