More than 1,000 complaints filed over misuse of fuel QR system
The Ministry of Digital Economy in Sri Lanka has reported receiving over 1,000 complaints about the misuse of fuel QR codes. These complaints involve people using the QR codes of others to get fuel. Waruna Sri Dhanapala, the Ministry's Secretary, mentioned that they have started investigations with the help of the police. He also pointed out that some complaints come from people who used another person’s QR code without knowing it was wrong. More than 150 of these complaints have been sent to the police for further action, and several arrests have already been made. The Secretary added that the police are reviewing security camera footage from fuel stations to find and catch the suspects. Additionally, reports show that more than 6 million people have signed up for QR codes so far.
