
Two individuals from Sri Lanka were taken into custody this morning at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while trying to smuggle over 10 kilograms of 'Kush' cannabis valued at Rs. 105 million into the country. The arrests were made by officers from the Airport Police Narcotics Division. One suspect is a 20-year-old businessman from Hakmana, and the other is a 22-year-old nursing student at a private university in Agunukolapelessa. They arrived at BIA on Thai Airways flight TG-307 from Bangkok, Thailand. Authorities found the 10.5 kg of Kush hidden in fake shoe soles, divided into eight packages. Both suspects are set to appear before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court, and further investigations are ongoing.
