Electricity distribution functions transferred to EDL under power sector reforms
Electricity distribution duties that were once handled by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have now been given to Electricity Distribution Lanka (Private) Limited (EDL) as part of the electricity sector reforms outlined in the Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024. This change allows EDL to make improvements and changes aimed at bettering efficiency, reliability, and service quality in the electricity distribution area. According to a statement from Electricity Distribution Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd., this shift is expected to create a more consumer-friendly electricity supply service and improve the relationship between the electricity provider and the public in Sri Lanka.
