UK sending four extra Typhoon jets to Qatar, PM Starmer says
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Thursday that the UK will send four more Typhoon fighter jets to Qatar as tensions rise in the Middle East. He emphasized that the UK has a solid defense strategy. Concerns about Britain's military effectiveness have emerged due to its careful response to the Iran crisis and a drone attack on its significant military base in Cyprus. U.S. President Donald Trump has also criticized Starmer for not offering enough support for his actions against Iran. During a press conference, Starmer stated that the UK had the right plan and had already positioned military equipment in the region prior to the outbreak of the conflict. "I am focused on providing calm and steady leadership for the nation," Starmer remarked. "This involves using our military and diplomatic strength to keep our citizens safe and having the resolve to uphold our values and principles, despite any external pressures." He confirmed that the four additional Typhoon jets would enhance the UK's defensive operations in Qatar and the surrounding area. "We have the right plan for defense," he reiterated.
