Foreign Ministry sets up Emergency Response Unit amid Middle East tensions
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism in Sri Lanka has set up an Emergency Response Unit to handle issues linked to the rising tensions in the Middle East. This unit aims to ensure the safety and well-being of Sri Lankan citizens living in the region. Around one million Sri Lankans reside and work in the Middle East, making their protection a top priority for the government, according to a statement. The unit will also provide help to non-Sri Lankan nationals in the country who might be impacted by the current events, addressing their concerns individually. The Emergency Response Unit is available every day from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., including weekends.
