Colombo Stock Exchange suffers its largest single-day point drop in history
The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) experienced its biggest one-day drop ever today (03), with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) falling by 1,290.68 points, which is a decline of 5.44%. At the end of trading, the ASPI was at 22,443.38 points. Additionally, the S&P SL20 Index fell by 322.32 points, closing at 6,313.65 points. Today's trading volume reached over Rs. 9.56 billion. Earlier in the day, trading at the Colombo Stock Exchange was briefly stopped after the S&P SL20 index fell more than 5% from the previous day's closing value. Regular trading resumed 30 minutes after the pause, according to the CSE.
