Property worth over Rs. 30 mln frozen in Walasmulla over alleged illegal acquisition
The Illegal Assets Investigation Division has put a hold on property worth over Rs. 30 million due to claims of illegal acquisition. This move comes after an inquiry into a complaint suggesting that the assets were gained through drug trafficking and robbery. According to police, the property belongs to someone from the Walasmulla area. Specifically, a 14.1-perch piece of land with a three-story house, located in Kadigamuwa, Walasmulla, is valued at over Rs. 30 million. It is alleged that this property was bought in a woman's name with money gained illegally. As per the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, the freezing order is effective for seven days starting yesterday (19). The Illegal Assets Investigation Division is continuing its investigation into this matter.
