LCC recovered USD 2.1 mln from supplier after substandard coal import – GM
The General Manager of the Lanka Coal Company (LCC), Namal Hewage, announced that they recovered about USD 2.1 million from a supplier after discovering that a shipment of coal did not meet quality standards. He shared this information during a media briefing today (28) at the Department of Government Information, aimed at explaining the issues surrounding the substandard coal import. Hewage mentioned that coal samples were taken with the help of experts from the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant. These samples were then sent to India for detailed testing and analysis. He also confirmed that the test results for the second shipment of coal showed no quality problems, and that the unloading of the third and fourth shipments is currently underway.
