Sri Lanka seeking to deploy additional personnel to UN Peacekeeping missions
Sri Lanka is planning to send more personnel to United Nations Peacekeeping Missions. This topic was discussed during a meeting of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Defence, led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. At the meeting, they talked not only about sending more Sri Lankan troops to UN missions but also about the well-being of security force members and the need to improve the country’s helicopter fleet. They also reviewed progress on issues discussed in earlier meetings. It was highlighted that positive actions have been taken on several proposals from different groups, especially regarding land release in the Northern Province, reopening roads, and continuing school activities. The meeting included ministers, deputy ministers, members of parliament, and senior officials from the defence sector, including Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Rted), who is the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence.
