Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm likely in several provinces today
Today, the Department of Meteorology announced that Eastern, Central, North-central, and Uva provinces in Sri Lanka will experience showers or thundershowers at times. Some areas in the Central and Uva provinces, as well as Batticaloa and Ampara districts, may see fairly heavy rain, with amounts reaching around 75 mm. The Northern and North-western provinces will also have several periods of rain. After 2:00 p.m., showers or thundershowers are expected to occur in various other locations. In the early morning, misty conditions may be present in parts of Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, along with Galle and Matara districts. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of damage from strong winds and lightning that may accompany the thundershowers.
