LNP - Security details of former Presidents reduced

Security details of former Presidents have been withdrawn after reviewing reports on the security threats they face, police said. Accordingly security detail of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been reduced to 60 from 116 personnel. Three defenders which were provided for Mr. Rajapaksa have also been withdrawn. Former President Maithripala Sirisena’s security detail has been limited to 51 and the detail of former President Chandrika Kumaratunga has been reduced to 58. It is expected that the security detail of Ranil Wickremesinghe, the immediate predecessor of incumbent President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will also be curtailed in the future.
