Fuelpass registration now available for unregistered and transferred vehicles
The registration for the QR code system is now open for new vehicles, transferred vehicles, and those that were never registered before, as confirmed by authorities. People can go to the official website, fuelpass.gov.lk, and register their vehicles in the “Vehicle Registration” section to receive a QR code under this new system. Previously, individuals who already had a QR code and used the same vehicle and mobile number could easily update their QR codes, but this update option was temporarily unavailable. Authorities also expect that any issues with fuel supply for essential services and agriculture will be sorted out by this afternoon, the 15th. In addition, Mayura Neththikumarage, the Managing Director of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), assured that there is no fuel shortage in Sri Lanka, despite the QR code system for fuel distribution. He mentioned in a media interview that discussions with countries like India and China have already taken place to secure fuel if an urgent need arises, and these talks have been very successful. The QR code system for fuel distribution officially started at 6:00 a.m. today, the 15th.
