Traffic on the Somawathiya–Sungavila main road is still halted due to flooding from the Mahaweli River. The stretch between 35 and 37 kilometers from the Diggala area is under water, with levels around two and a half feet high. Authorities are urging drivers to take different routes when traveling to the Somawathiya sacred site in Sri Lanka.
