A 22-year-old woman has died after being moved from Minuwangoda Base Hospital to Gampaha District General Hospital. Her family is accusing the hospital staff of negligence. The woman, who lived in Japala Watte, Minuwangoda, was admitted to Minuwangoda Base Hospital on February 18 due to illness. She had been receiving care there for four days. Her parents say that her health got worse early on February 22, which led to her transfer to Gampaha around 1:00 a.m. They state she passed away about 20 minutes after arriving at the new hospital. Her parents and husband believe that her death was caused by poor treatment and care at Minuwangoda Base Hospital. However, a post-mortem examination revealed that she died from dengue fever. The family also claims that the medical staff did not diagnose her with dengue despite treating her for four days. The final rites for the woman are planned for tomorrow, February 25, at the public cemetery in Japala Watte.
