Couple arrested with Ice worth Rs. 8 million in Puttalam
A married couple was arrested on January 1 in Puttalam during a raid by the Narcotics Control Unit. The couple, aged 28 and 23, lives in the Anamaduwa area. They were caught in Mallankulama with 524 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, commonly known as 'Ice.' Authorities found that the couple had been selling drugs from a relative’s home in Ibbagamuwa. The 'Ice' they possessed has an estimated street value of about Rs. 8 million. Police also seized a vehicle they used for transporting the drugs. The arrest came after police received information about the couple selling drugs to youth in Puttalam and nearby areas. Officers had been watching them for about a month before they intercepted the couple while they were moving the drugs. Additionally, police suspect that the couple has links to international drug traffickers and they will be held for further questioning.
