A shooting took place on R.A. De Mel Mawatha in Kollupitiya early this morning (25), according to police reports. The incident happened around 2:35 a.m. The Kollupitiya Police said that two unknown individuals arrived on a motorcycle and fired shots at the building and its gate using a T-56 assault rifle before escaping. Initial investigations indicate that about 15 bullets were fired during the event. Police found empty cartridge cases in front of the building, prompting the Officer-in-Charge to lead a team to the scene for further investigation. CCTV footage shows the passenger on the motorcycle shooting at both the building and the gate. Thankfully, no injuries occurred due to the shooting. The reason for the attack is still unknown, and investigations are continuing.
