Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama has granted bail to a suspect involved in the murder of underworld figure Sanjeewa Kumara Samararatne, known as ‘Ganemulla Sanjeewa’. The ruling took place today, the 17th. The suspect, Udara Nirmal, received bail after providing two surety bonds, each worth Rs. 500,000. He was taken into custody on suspicion of helping with the murder by supplying mobile phone SIM cards that are believed to be connected to the killing of Ganemulla Sanjeewa, who was shot dead in the Aluthkade court complex on February 19, 2025.
