A member of U.S. Republican Party says that, Mr Hugo Chavez, who calls himself as a socialist leader, has won the election by putting illicit votes.
Mrs Elina Ross Lathian, Chief of the U.S. Foreign Affairs Committee has raised these allegations against Mr Chavez.
The internal observers were never allowed to observe the election activities. The voting, counting, and issuing results, were done according to his system , she said.

In an effort to cut costs, Sri Lanka Cricket`s new interim committee, headed by Upali Dharmadasa, has decided to cut down on the staff at SLC headquarters in Colombo. The board has been in a financial crisis since the 2011 World Cup, for which they built two new stadiums, at Hambantota and Pallekele. When the new committee was appointed on July 1, the main task Sri Lanka`s sports minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage set for them was to keep an eye on the board`s finances.

The story of the International Cricket Council is convoluted: it has had two changes of name, and the present ICC is vastly different from the organisation whose initials it has continued to carry. The first ICC was formed in 1909, and financed by South African money. Its original three members were England, Australia and South Africa, all white countries. The letters stood for Imperial Cricket Conference, and membership was open only to nations belonging to the British Empire.

May 9, 2011 (Island Cricket): After a fundamental rights petition on behalf of local cricket clubs by the United Southern Sports Club, Sri Lanka`s Supreme Court on Monday ordered elections at Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
The sports ministry was ordered to ensure that the current interim committee, including the controversial chairman Somachandra de Silva and secretary Nishantha Ranatunga be replaced by July 6.

The first edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) will be a seven-team inter-provincial tournament played over approximately 18 days at the end of July and the beginning of August this year. The teams will play each other once, with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-finals. All the games will be played the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and the winner of the tournament will qualify for the Champions League Twenty20.

Apple is suing its rival Samsung Electronics for allegedly copying the design of its iPad and iPhone. Apple claims Samsung`s Galaxy range of mobile phones and tablet `slavishly` copy the iPhone and iPad, according to court papers. Apple`s claims focus on Galaxy`s design features, such as the look of its screen icons.
However, Samsung states it had conducted its own research and development and would contest the allegations.
