Former President CBK on Board of Directors of Club de Madrid
(Lanka-e-News 19.Nov.2009 2.00PM) The world`s largest forum of former Democratic Presidents and Prime Ministers the Club de Madrid concluded its Annual Conference in the Spanish capital on 12th November. More than 100 former Heads of State and experts from around the world met over two days to discuss `The Political Dimensions of the World Economic Crisis`.
President Kumaratunga addressed the conference on Employment, Social Welfare, and Democratic Rights and Duties . On the second day Club de Madrid appointed Mr. Wim Kok the former Prime Minister of the Netherlands as its President and Ms Jennifer Mary Shipley, former Prime Minister of New Zealand Vice President. Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga was elected to the twelve member Board of Directors of Club de Madrid.

While all arrangements have been made for First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa to open the Senehasa School, which is in close proximity to the Manning Town Housing Complex in Narahenpita, established for the soldiers` children on Thursday (19) morning, Major General Shavendra Silva had called the project personnel on Wednesday (18) evening and informed them that the opening ceremony has been cancelled by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

The controversial Umpire Decision Review System has come under serious threat, with broadcasters and national boards baulking at the implementation costs. The UDRS will be scrapped for the forthcoming India- Sri Lanka and South Africa-England Test series, and might not be used in Australia.

Transfers: Unlimited transfers for the Test matches are allowed only until 04:00 GMT on Nov 16, 2009. Thereafter, you have got 6 transfers for the Test matches, followed by a period of unlimited transfers till the T20Is start on Dec 9, 2009. 2 transfers will be available for the T20Is, and 5 for the ODIs, with an interim period of unlimited transfers in between. India, Bangladesh face off in 2011 World Cup opener

India and Bangladesh, two of the co-hosts, will contest the opening game of the 2011 World Cup in Mirpur on February 19. The fixtures were announced at an ICC event in Mumbai on Monday.
The first game in Sri Lanka will feature the hosts taking on Canada in Hambantota, a new venue, on February 20. Pakistan, who lost their share of World Cup matches due to the security situation in the country, are playing all six of their group matches in Sri Lanka, which is hosting a total of 12 games.

SL team arrives for Test series
Sri Lankan Test team, seeking its first win in India, arrived on Sunday morning to play a three-match series.
The Kumar Sangakkara-led squad landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at around 2.30 AM.
The team will begin their campaign with a three-day game against Board President`s XI starting on November 11 in Mumbai, from where they will move on to Ahmedabad for the first Test starting on November 16.
