Government is tapping private telephone lines without any authorization, UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera alleged in Parliament.
Samaraweera said the private conversations are being listened to as a result of government tapping telephone lines. He charged that the invasion on individuals privacy is a violation of human rights.
Speaking at Parliament yesterday he alleged, though terrorism was wiped off from Sri Lanka three years ago the government taps telephone lines claiming it to be due to security reasons.
He also charged that Chinese interventions in the telecom industry have many adverse effects on Sri Lanka s telecommunication industry. He added that Sri Lanka has already earned a bad reputation at the UN peace committee and in diplomatic levels due to adverse policies adopted by the government. (Ceylon Today Online)

Gen. Dr. V. Prabhakaran knew this 40 year ago...! Jingalaas must appreciate the farsightedness of this brilliant man..!
Jingalaas are only finding out now... this clearly shows that pathetic Jingalaas are at least 40 years behind Tamils in technology!
Thats why the Six-star General started using satellite technology for communication in Eezham...as soon as he took over the leadership of Tamil nation! |

| This Awamangala loser has something to complain about. If the government tapping phones why can't he come out with the names, if not all, of some of those whose telephones are tapped. |
