Sujeewa Senasinghe a member of the reformist group within the UNP and Colombo District Member of Parliament told daily mirror online today that he was not happy with the arbitrary and dictatorial decisions taken by the leadership in nominating candidates for the upcoming Colombo Muncipal Council Elections.` I don t understand the thinking behind the move to appoint Mr. Muzammil as the mayoral candidate. We had such a strong candidate in Mr Imthiyaz Bakeer Marker an Anandian and former minister, we would have won by a margin of over 250,000 if he was to run, despite Mr.Bakeer Marker agreeing to be the candidate the leadership did not even consider his nomination` Senasinghe said.

Senasinghe an ardent supporter of Sajith Premadasa in the ongoing leadership tussle within party, stated that the nominations board had left out many deserving members out of the candidates list for the upcoming elections. However he pointed out that he would work tirelessly to ensure victory of the party at the polls.` I will work round the clock to ensure that we win for the sake of our party, our supporters and the public, I will however fight for the injustice that many potential candidates suffered due to the dictatorial attitude of the party leadership` he said.

When asked about the chances the UNP had at winning the Colombo Municipal Council Senasinghe said he believed the party would retain its stronghold. `When we ran under the symbol of the spectacle we still won by a margin of 100,000 votes, and im confident we will win again. The nominations have not been what many of us expected but this is an election we have to win and I will put in all my strength to ensure that the Party is victorious` he said

This time around, 'round the clock' or otherwise the UNP is set to lose their all time strong-hold Colombo. Mano Ganesan will attract a good lot of the tamil votes. Grero is also set to ditch the UNP! Thanks to Ranil and his henchmen.
