a condition unique to Sri Lanka?? teacher numbers I dont think is as muh as an issue today as it used to be les say 15yrs ago. Quality teachers are a different issue (same like quality doctors, nurses or any other professionals)

Lack of teachers or quality of the teachers would be the last of the reasons why parents send kids to private or international schools. Do you really believe quality of teachers are better in private or international schools?

well salary or incentives wont make a bad teacher in to a good one.. it might make a bad teacher remain in govt service though. And during last 10-15 yrs the salaries of govt teachers/principals have improved considerably. I'm not saying that the incentives cannot be improved.

Good teachers (as far as I know/in my exp) dont just leave govt service and join private or international schools. Most of them join those after retiring from Govt service.

So, Are you saying there is no problem is SL education system?
If no, how could it be fixed?

if I'm not mistaken, Bandula is talking about the curriculum and subject matter we teach at schools today in Sri Lanka being out dated, not about the things we were discussing when I posted this, so it's totally out of context.. I'm suprised you didnt realise that when you posted my reply here.. :D

These guys are unique type, just like Chennaiguy. Rewriting the problem in different words is the solution.
