Army spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe told Lanka e news that, so far he had not received any instructions from the Defense Ministry with regard to General Sarath Fonseka who is now in the custody of the Navy, attending Parliament on the 22nd.
Samarasinghe said, the Secretary to the Parliament ought to make a request to the Defense Ministry to provide facilities to Fonseka to attend Parliament, and the Defense Ministry should then give instructions in that connection to the Army. But until 16th Friday, no instructions have been issued to the Army from the Defense Ministry, he added.
On the 16 th when the DNA had a media briefing, Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated, letters have been sent to the Parliamentary Secretary and the Army Commander to provide the necessary facilities to the General who has been elected as a member of Parliament from the Colombo District, to attend Parliament.
Our attempts to reach the Parliamentary Secretary for further information on this proved futile.
