Former UC Vice Chairman arrested

The Central Province Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) has arrested a former Vice Chairman of the Talawakelle Urban Council allegedly for aiding and abetting LTTE terrorist activities. Police have received information that the suspect had taken estate youth for arms training in the North and has assisted the LTTE in transporting explosives to the estates.

A group of police officers led by Central Province TID officer-in-charge Inspector Saman Yatawara arrested the suspect on information received while interrogating a suspect arrested a fortnight ago with a cache of arms.
