Hi Marky, nice job with the video man :)

but apart from that i have to say that the song was horrible(the dance was not too bad)...i was appalled to see how songs sung so poorly(both from a Carnatic music standpoint as well as from the linguistic one)were thought fit to be used for Barata Natyam by this teacher!

I would not have made this comment if the song and dance were just mediocre...as i have seem many such ones online..but this is really bad. the singer could not even pronounce the words properly and has some really horrid accent...even though i normally encourage people who try to sing in other languages..this comes off as an insult albeit an unintentional one.

How did the singer pass the Northern lanka music board exam? as a person who studied carnatic music for a long time, i can assure you that this singer could not have even passed the 1st grade...

i shudder to think about the fate of Barata Natyam if such lackluster..nay...such downright poor performance is encouraged!

PS: i hope you dont mind the above comment of mine. it was aimed at the video and not at you:) lest you take umbrage :P

Velir,
Thanks for your comments indeed..........I was expecting it from some one like Sritharan......let me explain as much as I can!!

were thought fit to be used for Barata Natyam by this teacher!

I don't know that teacher......cause I MIXED IT with this song for fun while I was working with something else:):):)
i shudder to think about the fate of Barata Natyam if such lackluster..nay...such downright poor performance is encouraged!

She is a pro Idnian dancer according to the original I think.....
Unfotunately I can't give any openion about the dance or dancer cause I don't have a clue about Bharatha natyam....I just grabbed it

...even though i normally encourage people who try to sing in other languages.......i can assure you that this singer could not have even passed the 1st grade...

Aaaahhhh........the singer of both versions is a small Sinhalese kid and a Tamil girl...mind you, a small BOY.....I wonder whetehr ever he has ever heard the word Karnataka let alone music exams:):):):):):):)

Lol i had no idea that this song was not connected to this dance...after having seen quite a few barata natyam dances being 'modernized'(shudders) in similar manners in some concerts i thought this was one of those :))

of course, when i made that comment i was unaware that this song was not connected to this dance:).
the kids have sung well, i agree but the kid who sings in tamil does not have a lankan tamil accent.she is probably an indian tamil.she also has some issues with certain words but then again its probably cos she is a small kid and not some teenager as i thought earlier.

all in all, most if not all my objections evaporated when i learnt that the song and the dance are not related:))

i apologize.
