Dubai officials have reported a minor incident related to security issues in the region, stating that everything is under control. The Dubai Media Office (@DXBMediaOffice) shared on X that the incident involved debris falling after an interception and that it has been managed successfully. There were no injuries reported. The officials also dismissed social media claims about incidents at Dubai International Airport. This incident in the UAE occurs amidst increased regional tensions. Early Saturday, Saudi Arabian air defenses shot down a new wave of aerial attacks targeting the important Shaybah oil field, as reported by Arab News and the Ministry of Defence. Major General Turki Al-Maliki, the ministry's spokesperson, noted on X that 16 drones were intercepted and destroyed during four separate waves over the Empty Quarter. These drones were reportedly on their way to the crucial energy site. Additionally, Al-Maliki announced the interception of both a ballistic missile and a cruise missile aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Kharj. Arab News also reported that another drone was shot down east of Riyadh, marking the third day in a row of attempts to strike Al-Kharj, a key industrial area located 80 kilometers from the capital. The recent attempt on the Shaybah field is the first since February 28, following a significant US-Israeli air campaign against Iran. This escalation has led to retaliatory strikes from Tehran on various Gulf targets, including vital industrial and oil facilities. The Shaybah field, located deep in the Rub’ al-Khali (Empty Quarter), is one of Saudi Arabia's largest oil fields, playing a key role in the country’s gas strategy by supplying natural gas liquids (NGLs) to the petrochemical sector. The increase in regional hostilities has resulted in more aerial threats across the Gulf. Arab News reported that in the past 24 hours, the UAE intercepted more than 125 drones and six ballistic missiles. On Friday, Saudi defenses managed to stop five missiles aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base and multiple drones targeting Riyadh and Al-Kharj.
