Four sentenced to death over three long-running murder cases
The High Court of Nuwara Eliya has handed down death sentences to four individuals tied to three different murder cases that have lingered for years. Today (02), High Court Judge Viraj Weerasuriya announced the sentences, as reported by Ada Derana. One of the convicted, a 47-year-old man, was sentenced for a murder that took place in 1998 in the Nanu Oya Police Division. In another case from 2009, a 55-year-old man received a death sentence for killing his mother, wife, and child in Pattipola. Additionally, two men, aged 64 and 62, were given death sentences for their roles in a murder that occurred in Bogawantalawa in 1990, where the victim was fatally attacked with a sharp weapon.
