The Israeli military released new evacuation orders for multiple areas in Lebanon on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. This includes a warning for people living in two neighborhoods in southern Beirut, advising them to avoid certain buildings due to expected military operations. Avichay Adraee, the military's Arabic-language spokesperson, stated on Telegram, "Urgent warning to the residents of Lebanon, especially in the villages listed. For your safety, you must leave your homes right away." The military identified 50 locations in total, many of which are in southern Lebanon, a region frequently targeted by Israel to strike Hezbollah infrastructure. In another evacuation notice, Adraee warned residents of the Beirut neighborhoods Ghobeiry and Haret Hreik, saying, “You are near Hezbollah facilities and interests, which the IDF will target soon.” On Monday, March 2, the Lebanese government took the rare step of prohibiting Hezbollah’s military and security activities, leading to backlash from the Iran-backed group. Hezbollah holds representation in both the government and Parliament, and this action followed their announcement of rocket and drone attacks aimed at Israel early that same day, in retaliation for the killing of Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei in U.S.-Israeli strikes. In response, Israel bombarded the southern suburbs of Beirut and numerous villages in southern Lebanon on March 2, promising to make Hezbollah face a “heavy price.” According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, these airstrikes resulted in at least 31 fatalities and left at least 149 others injured.
