The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) reported that 109,410 tourists came to the island in the first 18 days of March. The latest figures show that India was the top source of visitors, sending 27,613 tourists, which makes up 25% of all arrivals so far this month. The United Kingdom followed with 10,111 visitors, while Russia had 9,562 and China brought in 9,100 tourists. Germany and Australia also played a part, contributing 8,258 and 6,114 arrivals, respectively, showing a wide range of interest from different countries. For the year so far, the SLTDA noted that total tourist arrivals from January 1 to March 18, 2026, reached 666,065. India is still at the top of the overall numbers with 127,353 tourists, followed by the United Kingdom with 70,439 and Russia with 59,795 visitors.
