Minister assures continuous fuel supply for industries
The Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunneththi, stated that the government has implemented a special system to guarantee a steady fuel supply for the industrial sector. In a speech to Parliament on the 17th, he detailed that measures are in place to offer continuous fuel access to various sectors, including construction, manufacturing, export-oriented industries, and services. As part of this system, industrialists can register online using Google Forms, and about 750 companies have already signed up. During this registration, the government collects important details about each company's fuel needs, the sector they belong to, and their transportation methods. This information is then sent to the Ministry of Energy and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, which distribute fuel to industries fairly using a weekly quota system. Additionally, companies can choose nearby filling stations or their own supply centers to make distribution easier and more organized. Minister Handunneththi also pointed out that the tourism sector is receiving special attention, with directions to ensure that vehicles carrying tourists can get fuel without having to wait in line. He emphasized that the government is focusing on the fuel supply system to keep Sri Lanka's industrial, export, and service sectors running smoothly.
