US generals tell Donald Trump destroying Iranian vessel near Sri Lanka was fun
US President Donald Trump stated he questioned the choice to sink an Iranian warship near Sri Lanka last week. At a rally in Hebron, Kentucky, he mentioned asking military leaders why the ship was destroyed instead of being captured. “I asked, why did we kill them? Why didn’t we just take them and use them in our Navy?” he shared with his supporters. Trump also noted that one of his generals told him sinking the ship was better, stating, “Sir, it’s a lot more fun.” The Iranian navy frigate was hit by a torpedo and sunk by a US submarine in international waters close to Sri Lanka, resulting in numerous sailor fatalities. Currently, the remains of 84 Iranian sailors are stored in two mobile cold storage units at the Galle National Hospital. The Galle Chief Magistrate, Sameera Dodangoda, issued an order yesterday (11) for the bodies to be handed over to officials from the Iranian Embassy in Sri Lanka, according to an Ada Derana reporter. The Magistrate instructed the hospital’s director to release the remains to representatives of the Iranian embassy, following a request made to the Galle Magistrate’s Court by the Galle Harbour Police.
